Brown Corpus - Documents

Getting started

This tool lets you peruse the contents of the million-word tagged corpus of documents assembled starting in the 1960s and improved over the years for the benefit of linguists, computer scientists, and others. Click here to learn more about the Brown Corpus.

To start with this tool, use the "Random" button next to the "Document" selector. Click it several times to see examples. Use the other settings to narrow your focus.

Hover over the document title or individual words within the contents to get more info.

Try the "Show" and "Highlight" settings to take better advantage of the tagging included in the BC and statistics generated as part of this project.

This simple tool illustrates some of what you might do with the freely available JavaScript data libraries it uses in your own project. Learn more about this derivative project.
